Negative Questions

Some questions may seem like a personal attack. For example:

• "Why have you have changed jobs so often?"
• "You've been in your current job for 8 years. Why so long?"

The important thing to remember is not to treat the question as a direct attack by the interviewer and reply in a defensive manner. Be constructive and turn the question around to show yourself in a positive light.

Other questions may simply come across as negative, such as:

• "What are your weaknesses?"
• "When did you last fail in a task?"
• "What do you dislike in your current job?"

Be cautious with your answers. Give your response with the air of someone who takes any problems and frustrations in your stride as part of the job and turns them around to create a positive outcome.
